Big future predicited for Britain’s Got Talent opera singer.

A SCHOOLGIRL who won first prize at an International Eisteddfod two years ago has been congratulated for wowing crowds on TV’s Britain’s Got Talent contest.

Faryl Smith, 12, made it to the finals of the ITV talent show on Saturday night.

But she had first impressed Welsh audiences when she appeared in the 2006 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod (LIME).

Yesterday LIME spokesman Joe O’Neill, who is also opera star Katherine Jenkins’ agent, said: “We sent our congratulations to Faryl via her mother on Saturday night.”

Faryl was pipped to the top spot on Saturday by warring ton break dancer George Sampson, 14, who now gets to perform at the Royal Variety Show.

But O’Neill predicts a big future for the young singer.

He said: “Faryl sang like an angel. We’ve followed her career avidly since she won first prize here at Llangollen in 2006 at the tender age of 10.”

He said Faryl’s 2006 Eisteddfod appearance will prove to be a magic moment in the history of the festival.

He said she gave a “mesmerising” rendition of Handel’s aria, Spring, which seemed to float out of the Pavilion and across the festival field.

Mr O’Neill added: “Faryl is set to be a huge success but we still hope she’ll come back to us in Llangollen.”
